Service pack 3 - error message

I go through the pack 3 update and at about 2/3rd, I keep getting the
following message.

"0x5a008b4" reference memory at "0xddc20074". Memory could not be read.

I have a Norton but disabled it before the update. tried twice to no success.

Any help or suggestion?

I think you may have to uninstall Norton - I don't think that just disabling
it is sufficient...
