My updates will not install
I have tried letting auto update work it's magic and also threw the online
wiondows update. It sees the updates needed and downloads them but will not
install it.
If i check history to get an error messages, it sees no update history in
that screen. Is there another way for me to get an error message? Is there
something else i need to look at.
It is a Dell P3 with XP SP3. I just put XP on it this weekend. It had a bad
or illegal version on it. I just did the upgrade off the XP disk and let it
go from there...

Re: My updates will not install
Go to Start > Run > type in

cmd
Click OK or press Enter
At the prompt, type this in and then press Enter

regsvr32 wups2.dll
exit
Reboot the system and see if the updates install now.

If not, reinstall the Windows Update Agent by following the steps laid
out here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/blog...showentry=1172

That will install the latest Version of the WUA and *should* mitigate
the need to register .dlls related to the updating process.

Re: My updates will not install
Hi,
Thanks for the tip. I have been having WindowsXP update problems since I
migrated my old drive to a new one. From that time Updates would download but
not instal although downloading and installing each one individually worked
ok. I followed your tip as listed here and hey presto .... auto update worked
immediately without a reboot even. Thanks for that .... a problem now solved.
Regards, jonpears

Re: My updates will not install
Awesome advice, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I'm getting the
same issue as Matt above, but I still cant get the updates to install. I've
got a clean install of XP Pro with SP2 installed, and the updates will
download but not install. I've tried both of the solutions and no joy. Any
additional advice?

Thanks in advance!
