cannot update.

i tried all the steps to get an update but i still get an error message
8024402c. i tried go download from microsoft website withe ie7, i click to
download and i get an error, unable to load page. my firewall is set to
allow automatic updates from microsoft. nothing seems to be working. windows
explorer often closes unexpectedly. i need help!! what are my next steps to
solve this problem?
