Stuck at "Windows Update is looking for available updates... 100%

Hi, I'm running Vista SP1 x64. When I run Windows update, scan quickly
reaches 100% complete and gets stuck there. The help suggested setting a
default language and deleting cookies and files. I have done both of these,
but they do not help. Any ideas?

Did you install Vista SP1 manually, via Windows Update, or was it
preinstalled on your machine when you bought it?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)?
