Updates won't install

For the past few weeks, I have not been able to install any updates to
windows or office. My computer can see the updates and will even go into my
auto updates box in windows automatic updates and will not install. I get no
error code or anything else they just will not install via the internet or
auto updates. If you can help me i would really appreciate it.

Ignore the title and try method 1 if not methd 2 -
Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation

If still not working, check the Windows Update log for further clues -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

Post back if appropriate with the error codes or a copy of the last few
lines where the updates failed to install.

Same problem here. I have gone so far as to reformat and reinstall (twice).

Are the uninstallable update a part of the servicee packs - and therefore
will not install over the top of themselves or a newer version?

Why does this also happen with available hardware driver updates (video
card, NIC)?
