install the driver for Intel PRO/Wireless LAN adapter software

I am running Vista Home Premium.

Lately I've been receiving a message that my laptop has to shut down. After
it reboots and checks for errors, I receive a pop up message telling me to
"Download and install the driver for Intel PRO/Wireless LAN adapter software;
This problem was caused by a missing driver for Intel PRO/Wireless LAN
adapter software, which was created by Intel Corporation."

I have turned on automatic updating. I checked for updates, view updates and
none of the options include downloading the Intel driver.

The following are the recommended/optional updates listed:

- Cumulative Update for Media Center
- Update for Microsoft XML core Services
- Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter
- Update for Windows Vista (KB947562)
- Update for Windows Vista (KB950124)
- Update for Windows Vista (KB950125)
- AMYUNI Technologies - Printer
- Update for Windows Vista (English)

I've also visited the Intel Wireless site and identified my Wireless Adapter
but it's not listed under "Download and Drivers" so I'm not sure what to do
at this point.

You will need the *full name* to locate the latest driver for the
adapter on the Intel Site:
http://www.intel.com/support/wireles.../CS-005905.htm

The above page shows how to identify the *specific* adapter in Vista or
you can use the Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connection ID Tool.

Theoretically, you should be able to uninstall the adapter, reboot, and
Vista will locate and install the drivers for it.
If it can't, then suggest that the OS needs some tending to.
