i need help installing a update

i have a problem of installing a update called Security update for microsoft
xml core services 4.0 service pack 2 kb936181 tye error details are 652

the automatic update has failed and when i went to the microsoft website
and tried to dowload the patch and it was succesful but once i try to run it
it says
error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file
location exists and is writable

plz respond asap
