Error #80070103

Ever since I upgraded from XP Media Center 2005 to Vista Ultimate I have been
having an ongoing problem installing error 80070103 which is a security
update for the .net framework 1.1 dated in 2004!! In my programs and features
all the following framework and updates have installed ok, and I have .net
framework 1.1 in there but the icon indicates it is an MSI install pkg where
the rest of my framework are regularly installed programs and updates.
Everytime I run Windows Update this "Important" update comes up to be
installed and every time it fails on install, so I always have the icon in my
sys tray saying I have updates to be installed...Very frustrating. Can anyone
provide a solution or guide me as to what to do.......robb

1. Write down what .NET Framework versions are already installed before you
go uninstalling/removing any of them!

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied
