Can't install updates - error code 0x8007F004

I can't seem to update my computer with any Microsoft updates/software. I
always get a message stating Installation Failure - error code 0x8007F004. I
am on the primary computer (connected to the router) on a very small wireless
home network. I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR. I have no issues updating my
daughters' computer, only mine. I don't know what to do at this point. I
own the computer. I am the primary user. There is no admin or user above me.
When I tried to manually install SP3 for Windows XP (not using
Microsoft/Windows Update), it said that I don't have permission to update my
computer and to contact my administrator. I am running Windows XP
Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2. Please help! I'm at my wit's end
with this!

Hi there, my windows doesn't update and also on my PC (bottom left ) there is
a red button (with a white crss inside it), windows security alert; I don't
know why does this come on my PC on today ?

Error message when you try to install a hotfix or an update on a Windows XP computer: "You
do not have permission to update Windows XP"

the red botton is on bottum right , sorry for the mistake.
How can i get rid of this ?

and how can i do update my PC ?
