If a Error 1508 comes up when you attempt to start the Automatic Updates
service, there's a strong likelihood that a malware known as
Vundo\Virutmonde is present. Suggest you read this:

IF the malware is present, then suggest you post to a reputable
anti-malware forum for further assistance.
