Welcome to the microsoft.public.windowsupdate newsgroup. In general - when
posting to such a forum/place - most people would like those postings *not*
to utilize any form of instant messaging shorthand. You are unlikely to be
posting to this place from some sort of device that would 'require' such
shorthand in order to make your life easier...
Also - please note the name of the group: microsoft.public.windowsupdate
While you likely have posted in the proper place for your issues (you seem
to be asking about a service pack for a Windows operating system (OS)) - you
have given little detail. Unfortunately for you - just asking about
"Service Pack 2" does not really narrow anything down for anyone. Windows
NT 4.0 had a service pack 2 - with several following it. Windows 2000 had a
service pack 2 with several following behind it. Windows XP had a service
pack 2 with one more service pack after it. While in all likelyhood you are
speaking of Windows XP Service Pack 2 - there is no guarantee. In your
case - even looking at your message headers is of no help in this manner as
you chose to post using the web page interface for the newsgroup:
X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000...
So, if you truly wish to receive assistance - I have a few suggestions...
- Post in full sentences (with fully spelled out words.)
- Give details that are relevant - for this I give these examples
in your particular case:
- What version of Windows are you attempting to get
Service Pack 2 for?
- Why Service Pack 2 over the later service packs released
for your OS?
- When attempting to obtain said service pack - what
happens? Any error messages? Give details.
