Error 0x8DDD0018
I am trying to update XP Home SP2 and get this message: "The site cannot
continue because one or more of these Windows services is not running:

Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, download and install
high-priority updates for your computer)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (helps updates download more
quickly and without problems if the download process is interrupted)
Event Log (keeps a record of updating activities to help with
troubleshooting, if needed) " as well as the error message listed above.

These services are, in fact, running; I restarted them to make sure. I have
also tried to find out how to manually update, as I am told I can do on the
same page, but have been unable to find out how.

I recently disabled many services per blackviper.com "Safe" list for XP. I
thought recall having updated once since then. I got the above message, but
was able to update at that time.

Never mind. I finally figured out that I HAD to turn on Auto Update in
Security Center. I'll turn it off again as soon as I do what I need. You'd
think MS would SAY THAT SOMEWHERE.
