Is the OS XP or Vista ?

1) Are there any issues using the monitor ?
2) Does the update address a security issue or add additional/missing
functionality ?

If the answer is no, then forget the update.

Apparently, this newer package is for both XP and Vista:

vista update error code 80070005 hp w1907 monitor
Hello -
I've received this error code since June 12th & don't know what to do.

Answering MowGreen's questions:
Vista.
It's only a recommended update, but every once in a while when my computer wakes from sleep the monitor does not wake up with it, so I want to be sure I have every update (that's a-whole-nother issue that I've got to figure out at some point...)
Not sure if it's security related or not...

I checked some of the links on this thread but none helped (even going directly to the hp site the update fails)...
Does anyone know exactly how I can fix this error so that the update will install successfully?

Thank you so much,
pjstwins

Can the system update successfully ? You mention, in passing

Suggest you look in the System Event log to see if there are any errors
showing for the failed attempt at installing the drivers downloaded from
HP. Even better, contact HP and tell them the installation failed.
If the system is still under warranty they *should* offer support for
such a failed driver installation.

Thanks MowGreen.

I looked at the update history and the only updates that failed were the "HP - Other Hardware - HP w1907 Wide LCD Monitor" . Can you tell me how to find the System Event Log (if the update history is not what you were talking about...)?

I went to to the HP website to try to download the update & it started, but then it said "Access Denied" but then it continued & then said that an error occurred...I am set up as the Administrator so I have the power to change things on my computer. I read somewhere that it's possibly a firewall problem, but I don't want to start messing with that unless absolutely necessary.

I will try HP support/warranty info, but they're not the most customer friendly company I've had contact with!

Here's hoping you find this:

BTW, Avast detected the file that resets permissions as a trojan. I've
notified Alwil and provided them with a sample so that they can update
their definitions.

I have the same issue with a recently purchase HPW2007 - I called HP - and got a reply that they could not help it was Vista problem (don't you love that !)

I can see there are no solutions (this forum was my last resort) I am returning the product. I do not care if the trouble is benign it needs to work properly period.
