SP3 Lan problems following installation
I installed sp3 on both a Dell desktop (older Pentium III) and a Dell
Laptop. Both computers have Norton Internet Security 2008. I connect to
the Internet thru a wired router. The installation on both completed
without error and I don't seem to have the predominate problems mentioned in
this newsgroup. While both computers can connect to the Internet, they are
no longer accessible or visible to each other. Previously I exchanged files
between the computers without difficulty. All file sharing settings are
active. The only evidence of any error during the installation is a
"Symantec resource Protector Alert":

Reaction: Unauthorized access stopped

I have no idea how to proceed or what to check for to get LAN capabilities
back. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Jerry

Was NIS actively monitoring the systems when SP3 was applied ?
If so, then it corrupted registry subkeys or generated
' garbage ' keys that start with $%&
That's what's showing in the Event:

$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-./0123$%&'()*+,-.
