Things to do prior downloadin/installing SP3.

1.Make an Image backup of the hard drive/Windows Partition before you
install SP3,

2.Test your System Restore to see if it is working correctly.

3. Make absolutely sure the machine's free of any hijackware, Trojan, or
virus infections before installing SP3.

4. Run Disk Cleanup then run a Defrag session before installing SP3.

5. Disable all real-time protections (anti-virus; anti-spyware;
third-party firewall) before downloading/installing SP3.

6. Reboot twice after installing SP3.

7. Run another Defrag.

Re: XP SP3 - "Limited or no connectivity"
I have used WINSOCKXP fix to repair internet connection. It has worked on my
PC which has a cable internet connection. I also tried it on my laptop Dell
D620 which has a wireless internet connection. Internet connection is
temporarily restored and is lost after system reboot and have repeat the fix
process everytime I switch on my laptop. Can anyone offer any suggestions. I
thank you all for your input.

Re: XP SP3 - "Limited or no connectivity"
Hi again zama,

In another thread here -- or maybe it's in the xp.general newsgroup -- I
mentioned that after contacting the free Microsoft support line -- that I
had gotten wireless connectivity back with SP3.

That WAS true -- until I needed to reboot my cable modem and router last
night.

Once I did that, I again lost wireless connectivity with my 802.11g Netgear
adapter on my main PC, and couldn't get it back.

I've now uninstalled SP3 for the third time in order to have connectivity.

I'll wait until there is some sort of official fix until I bother to install
SP3 once more.

SP3 Net Connectivity
its not just wireless... i have a nic card and have the same problem, i tried doing a system restore and it worked, unfortunately i forgot to turn off autoupdates and got sp3 again, tried undoing it again but it hasnt worked...same comp i tried net connectivity under ubuntu it works, as well as safe mode with networking, so something is happening when it loads the full windows!!

microsoft helped me alot to figure out how to clean up alot of the mess...but still something is not working...
they said also if any of your past updates are not done properly then that might also cause sp3 not to load correctly...
