Sound Device

hey,
im just wondering if anyone could help me out. My computer recently stopped
switching on and then i reebooted it and now my computer has started up like
it was when it was brand new, now i can't hear anything from my speakers they
are turned on but when i go to my devices it says ther no audio devices,
there is no volume icon on my desktop tray and when i go to windows media
player the message comes up as "Windows Media Player cannot play the file
because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound
device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or
it might not be functioning properly." If possible please help me Thank You

How does this pertain to Windows Update functionality?
