Dell Inc. - Video - Intel(R) 82830M Graphics Controller

As at 20 April 2008.

My Winfows Update is giving me the option to install two hardware updates:

Intel Corporation Intel(R) 82830M Graphics Controller
Dell Inc. - Video - Intel(R) 82830M Graphics Controller

Intel Corporation display software update released on February 10 2004.

Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter
Microsoft - Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter
Download size: 0 KB , 0 minutes (Downloaded; ready to install)
Microsoft Other Hardware sofware update released in January, 2007
Details... "

I installed both, only to find that on reboot my screen went AWOL!

Luckily the keyboard was still functioning so I restarted in Safe Mode and
performed a System Restore taken just before these two, so I know it was one
of them. I suspect it is the 82830M.

I run a Dell 2800 Inspiron laptop.

I'd recommend that you only download/install driver updates for that machine
that are offered by Dell Support Downloads pages.

Hello there,

That is if your hardware does not function well and an updated driver is
needed for that reason.

If it ain't broke: do not try to"FIX" it.

Who the heck is General Faillure and what is he doing on my hard drive?

I doubt the Dell update is coming from Microsoft and his other update
is so the screen saver works using a wireless mouse.
