WinXP Pro Update failed

My most recent update fails and I would appreciate assistance.
The failure is with the following updates:

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - April 2008 (KB890830)
Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.31.8726.0)

My system is WinXP Pro (SP3 v. 3244)

Other then the listing of shown above, no error number or message shows up.
