HP Laptop dead after Windows Update. (Vista)

My sons HP Pavillion DV9232 does not restart after a Windows Update. It gives
a log beep and 2 short ones, and then nothings happens. Screen is blank.
Have tried another screen. Also blank.

Those sounds come from the BIOS. The documentation should define what is
wrong.
Software can do strange things, but breaking hardware is not one of those
things.
