Installing updates fail everytime!!!

Just re-installed XP sp2 and Office 2007 business. When I go to the update
website it tells me that I need to install 99 updates. I accept them and it
downloads them but fails to install. When I check for an error code in the
update history folder - it shows nothing. I also get a DocumentViewer error
that will not go away.

Ignore the title...

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update,
from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after
you repair a Windows XP installation

I have exactly the same problem, and I really wonder why theres no simple
solution on this . I can download each update separately and install it, but
using the update online on all 100 updates fails every time.
Manually downloading and installing 100 files are stoneage computer
technology. What is this???? Is there not ONE guy on Microsoft that can have
the idea of collecting all these downloads in a handy SP3?
I have lost about 2 working days on this now, I have asked MS. but got no
answer yet. And I have dome millions of things found in thousands of help
documents.
Installed update assistant 3.2 version 2.
Clean out installers.
Registered files with server.
Fixed priviledges in registry.
Taking down firewall.

Download by Windows Update WONT WORK
Manually each of the 100 WORKS!

type in run net stop wuauserv

now delete everything in folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

restart pc

run windows update....


this worked for me!
