Windows Auto Update changes my default email from Outlook Express
Every time Windows Automatic Update runs my default (yes, I checked) email
program "Outlook Express" gets changed to "Microsoft Outlook" and I have to
go in and change it back. The only time this seems to be a problem is when I
click on a "Reply" link from a web page, then Microsoft Outlook comes up
until I change my setting back to Outlook Express. This is a real pain and I
can't find any "fix" on this website. Thanks for any help.

So, use Outlook. It's much better than Outlook Express. You will need to
open Outlook Express/File/Export to send your emails to Outlook.

Known behavior. MS and Office team says they're not going to fix it. (If,
e.g., Windows Live Mail, Yahoo Mail or Eudora were your default, installing
an OL update would "hijack" them, too.) See...

Outlook

Here's the fix; keep it handy:

2b. (WinXP) [Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs >] Set Program Access and
Defaults > Email > ...

Hi,

After having tried various of methods without improvement, you can
have a try to use special utility to repair your Outlook Express dbx
file. I know one, called Advanced Outlook Express Repair.
Fortunately , It worked rather well for my corrupt Outlook Express dbx
files last time. I think it may be helpful to you. You can download it
from the following address .Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/aoer/

SPAM! [Link is to a utility to (supposedly) repair Outlook, not Outlook
Express.]
