I ,m running ultimate and i get this errorcode! can anyone help me with this
please.

It is possible that the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder have become corrupted,
so try renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder

if that hasn't helped, reinstall the WU Agent - see below KB for links

A new version of the Windows Update Agent is available

How to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder in Vista -
1. Stop the Windows Update service (make sure you are logged on as an Administrator)

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Stop.

2. Click Start, type %windir% in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

Locate and rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.

3. Start the Windows Update service

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.

This procedure will erase your history on the Windows Update Site. Not important.

You can check which updates are installed on your computer by -
Start button || Control Panel || Programs
Under Programs and Features - click View installed updates.

I got the very same having tried to tighten up the user security on my
system. I'm the only user yet I found an amazing variety of user names on the
system with every authority known to man. When I knocked them all off except
mine (largely to see who squealed) I got the same error code as you. I gave
SYSTEM back full control and now update works a treat.

Why a user control single user system should need to be open to the world is
beyond me. Adobe is another one who supply software which squeaks in pain if
security is too tight.
