cd/dvd drive

The drive does not show up on my laptop anymore. It's like it has been
removed but I've not done anything to remove it as far as I know. How do I
get it back?

Before proceeding, make certain that the drive is firmly seated to the
connector inside the computer.
Is it seen by the BIOS (sometimes called system setup)?
If it is seen by the BIOS, does it show up in the hardware section of device
management?
If it shows up, is there a yellow question mark beside the device?
