windows xp updates

Hi, computer crashed, had to reinstall with recovery disc,now saying the
version of windows is no longer secure and to update with xp service pack 2
but it is not allowing me to downoad this and getting error message of
0X8007043B. can you please help,thanks

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:

NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery installs.

Hi Pa Bear,

I'm not doubting you when you say "NB: Also applies to clean installs,
upgrade installs, and Recovery installs."

But I'm wondering why there would be ANY leftover files to cause conflicts
from a prior installation, if a user does a clean install and is basically
starting an XP installation on a newly-formatted hard drive.
