Error ttempting to install SQL Server 2005 SP2
I've just spent about an hour dredging through this forum to work out how to
fix what appears to be quite a common problem installing SP2 for SQL Server
Express, without success. Until now!
I checked my list of running Services as instructed in various posts,
changing SQL Server to manual, automatic, starting the service, stopping the
service etc, etc but nothing made a difference.
However, when I viewed the properties for the Service (right-click on SQL
Server in the list of services), I noted under the Log On tab that the
service was runing under an account name that seemed to belong to the PC
Build company (in my case Acer). I'm guessing that since I'm no longer
connected to an Acer network, the logon credentials no longer work. I changed
the Log On setting to Local System account, restarted the service and the
install then worked OK.
Hope this fix works for others.
