BITS problem

I've tried to Install updates, but I kept getting error 0x80246008. So I
looked it up and my BITS was not started. I tried starting it and I kept
getting error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. I havent been
able to install updates for quite a while now. Is there any way to solve this
problem? Much appreciated.

I have just the same problem as you Anna. ( see below ).
I don't know which version of Vista you are running but I am running Vista
x64 Ultimate. And it seems that the BITS service is unloadable. It will not
even display info in the service list in Management Console. I have tried to
install the
"BITS Repair Tool for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB940520) " but
windows replies with a message
that this update is not relevant for my system.
And I cannot find any other download related to Vista x64 and BITS service
which could help me.

Please if anybody knows about a solution about this. Reply to this e-mail

It would be quite a task to download all the security updates and windows
vista updates manually and install them manually.
