Windows Blue Screen during boot up after update

I upgraded to Vista in November
Since 23 December I have had to use system restore sometimes going back
several restore points. After an update the computer shows a blue screen for
a milisecond as the computer re boots then it's in to safe mode.
Currently I have found if I stop auto updates then update KB944533 is
stopped from loading then the computer works.
Also the computer also decides to load updates even when auto update is not
selected.
What should I try?
