Re: Realtek AC'97 Audio fails to intall this update
Hi there,

Taking OPTIONAL drivers from windows update for non Microsoft hardware is
not recommanded.

If your hardware works fine: just leave it be working fine.

If an update is needed because the harware does not funtion well ( if it
ain't broke do not try to "FIX" it) than go to the manufacturers website for
an
updated driver.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Re: Realtek AC'97 Audio fails to intall this update
Hi there,

What operating system?

How are you trying to update? Windows update or manufacturer?

Why are you trying to update the driver? Not working well? Needed for
Service pack Installation?

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Re: Realtek AC'97 Audio fails to intall this update
Windows Update nothing pending even through custom : high...and below...
everything is clean.

I am trying to update the driver due to:
- Driver genius
- Version Tracker
shows the item as old... new version available.

yes it is not working well as I am getting a blue screen very often on my
laptop.
The blue screen is showing also an error saying that the video & audio
driver are not up-to-date ...

Thanks,

Re: Realtek AC'97 Audio fails to intall this update
Hi Dom,

Yes I know it takes a Genius to get your system down and to get it up as
well again it takes a genius too

Old does not by any means it cannot work proper with it.

Unfortunately it is quite hard to be of any assistance if you do not answer
specific questions, the answers are needed to narrow down the cause of your
computers problem.

What operating system are you running?

Did you upgrade the audio driver before when the blue screens started
appearing? And if so did you try back rollling back on the driver?

Did you change any of the bios settings before the blue screens appeared?

What error code is the blue screen presenting you with? something like this
must be in presented in the blue screen : STOP ERROR 0x0000007f
(0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Did you try to download and install the driver from Realtek?
http://122.146.118.42/downloads/down...GetDown=false?

What type of Realtek audio card is used in your laptop, if you do not know
this can you give the brand and type of laptop you are using?

Best regards,
Michel Denie
