[Error number: 0x80070005

I am getting this [Error number: 0x80070005 when I try to do Windows Update.
I followed the suggested steps to fix the problem but nothing is working. I
have not been able to do any updates for my WindowsXP Home Edition Service
Pack 2 for sometime now. Can someone give me step by step direction to fix
this problem.

One of the most common causes of this error code is the Anti Virus and Anti Spyware
software programs running on the computer.
You can try turning them off and then try the updates again. Keep the firewall on though.

0x80070005 - Permissions issue. You can reset registry and file ACLs to their Default
state by following the directions here:
