Security update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium.

I am being driven to distraction by Windows Update continually installing
this update. In the last week or so, Windows Update has installed it as
follows
7 Feb 3times
8 Feb 3 times
9 Feb 1 time
11 Feb 1 time
12 Feb 1 time
13 Feb 2 times
14 Feb 5 times
15 Feb 1 time so far.

On each occasion the update is recorded as successful. Each time I go to put
my computer in hibernation, the 'off' button shows red with a shield
indicating update to be installed and the computer restarted.

What can I do to solve this annoying issue?

Thank you

RE: Security update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2

This issue may occur if the components of MSXML 4.0 SP2 have been corrupted.
Let’s perform the following steps to remove and reinstall MSXML 4.0 SP2 and
its update.

Step 1: Download Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
=================================================
1. Visit:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...BD/msicuu2.exe
2. Save the file on the Desktop.
3. Please double click the msicuu2.exe file to install it on the computer.

Step 2: Remove MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 and its update if listed
================================================== ==
1. Click Start -> (All) Programs->Windows Installer Clean Up.
2. If MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 or MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 is listed, please
locate and remove them.

Step 3: Download and manually install the update
=======================================
1. Please download the update from the following link:

MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...629c/msxml.msi

MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB936181)
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...936181-enu.exe

2. Please note their location and install manually.
