Warning Latest Vista Updates Faulty ?

One or all of the Updates listed below caused my computer to crash. Had to
use recovery disc to gain control. Once up and running the system was very
unstable so removed the updates. Now running as before. Is anyone else having
problems ? Come on Microsoft sort it out!

I concur - had exactly the same reaction on my Vista Home Premium
installation. It is now over 48 hrs since the updates were released what IS
MS doing about it?

I have Vista Ultimate and this has happened to me twice - my mouse stops
working in Microsoft Office 2007 products, most notably Word. Adobe products,
etc. work just fine. Frustrating!

yUP This is my sons new lappy runing Vista ultimate, and last night as he
was logging off it had obviously downloaded the updates automatically and
when he logged off to close the computer down it started installing the
updates automatically...
hours later it was still stuck on Installing 4of6.... do not switch off or
unplug etc....

after a couple more hours i hard reset, and on the reboot it imediately
rebooted to "resuming".... 'f8' dosent seem to be an option on this computer,
and I was weary of doing anything too drastic , so after repeated reboots to
'resuming' then 4 of 6 etc... I left it all night....
0500 I ry again, and left it all day, and by 12 am it was tioll saying the
same but by 3pm, it had obviously finnished because it turned off and when I
got home at 1800 and switched it on it booted to the Dell splash....then
rebooted to the dell splash again, thencontinued to vista as normal?

all seems well, but the updates installed only show as

and windows defender KB915597 (today)

But as I don't know why it took so Long I'm loathed to retry
especially as I see a few other issues
I hope this isn't the way things are with vista... I had been telling
everyone it wasn't as bad as the press would have you believe up untill now...

any ideas as to what caused the hours of hang?

I had the same problem gmax, but it went through once i turned off the system
checker tool...

several hours later that I have 6 updates ready to install again. Microsoft's
patches are much less dependable than they used to be and much less likely to
install successfully without causing problems of one kind or another. I don't
think they are actually testing them enough to make sure that they work
correctly before releasing them on Update Tuesday each month. One update late
last year completely broke Windows Update on my wife's laptop running Windows
Business. I had to obtain a Vista installation CD from Microsoft and
reinstall Windows Vista to solve the problem. The laptop had come with a
Windows XP CD and I had purchased a Vista upgrade CD at the time I purchased
the laptop, so I didn't have a Vista installation CD to use to reinstall
Vista. At least Microsoft Windows Update technical support finally sent me a
Vista CD. But I
dealt with this issue for 2 or 3 months before finally getting the issue
resolved. Now I am being hit with these latest Windows Update issues. It
really makes me wonder what to expect each month when I try to install the
Windows Update patches on Update Tuesday. I am sorry I don't have any answers
for your problem. I just want to reaffirm that there are some serious
problems with the Microsoft patches that they are issuing each month.

I'm having the same problems as everyone else. Vista 32, home built PC. I
finally got back to my desktop and shut down auto update. HELLO Microsoft?

I have had a problem too, hower it is not as serious as others have
experienced. My Update for Windows Vista (KB943411) update refuses to
install. I have tried about 10 times to install the update but each time I
am told it failed. I get the error code 80070643 but when I investigate this
I am told it is something to do with Office 2003 when I saw somewhere the
update was to address an issue with Windows Vista Side Bar (which I have
stopped from running).
