And you're running Windows XP Professional 64 bit or Windows Server 2003 64bit
editions? From the error message you've received you don't. So is the very
update offered via Windows Update or did you manually download the (wrong
version) of the update?

You seem to be running Windows XP Home Edition and therefore your system needs
the 32bit (standard) versions of any update. In case you still feel you need
to download KB942615 for IE7 running on Windows XP manually, that's the link
to the according update for your system:

Yes it does keep coming up in Windows updates, Automatic and on the website.
I didnt notice it was for 64 bit system but I will keep an eye on that from
now on thanks.
Why would a 64 bit update come up on my XP home install anyway.
Strange.

The x64 variant of the update? That's indeed strange.

Could you please check http://winware.org/en/browsertest.php with IE
and post the entries displayed in the "UA-CPU" and "User-Agent" lines
there?

Ah, the "Embedded Web Browser from http://bsalsa.com" stuff once again.
You may have a installed an application which makes use of TEmbeddedWB
component created by bsalsa.com.

Have a look into http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817144 and "Method 4"
mentioned in there. You may also find the relevant and irritating entry
in the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform

Your're welcome! Did the deletion fixed the quirks with Windows Update
offering updates for other Windows/Office versions you're using after
restarting all IE windows?
