Can't Hide Updates

I no longer have the ability to hide unwanted updates....This has been
happening for a few months....I use "Custom Install" on the Windows Update
site....
Can someone help me resolve....??......Thanx

How is Automatic Updates configured (i.e., Automatic; Download/Notify;

I selected the update to install....during the process, when the option
became available, I chose to cancel the update installation. When the
listing became available again, I right clicked on it and the option to hide
it was now available. I chose that and it no longer appears in my list of
available updates. So far, so good...

options---"Express" or "Custom".....I choose "Custom"......That's where I run
into the inability to "hide" unwanted updates.....Here's an example------

After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
Details...
Don't show this update again"--------
-------The words "Don't show this update again followed by a check box are
greyed out.....
I don't use the Hide option often (the last time was 3/07) but every once in
awhile I choose not to install an update and I don't want to deal with it
month after month etc.....

After logging-in as Administrator, change your Automatic Updates setting to
Notify Only* then revisit Windows Update to see if either of these changes
affects your ability to hide updates there.

* "After you set this option, Windows recognizes when you are online and
uses your Internet connection to search for downloads from the Windows
Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site. An Automatic Updates
icon and message appear in the notification area of your taskbar when new
updates are available to download or to install..."

PA Bear....
I just changed the auto update setting as you suggested to "Notify Only"....

I then went onto the Win Update site
update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
and chose "Custom" as I usually do......

Things are still the same----The words "Don't show this update again" and
the 'check box' are still greyed out.....

Any other suggestions.....???.......Thanx
