No updates after XP repair

Success! After trying all of the suggestions on these threads I have finally
found a solution that does work and it was so easy to finally download all 90
updates. This article explains it all.

Don't bother:

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:

Hey, thanks! I have been trying to repair mine for a year. Took 5 minutes
to do. And then it worked right away. At first I was going to blow this
off, but I am glad I didn't.
