Update errors
After repairing my Win XP SP2 installation, I have to reinstall a bunch of
updates. They come in batches, e.g., I'll get 30+ new ones, install, reboot,
then more.

Well, at one of these updates, it screws up my computer. IE7 won't run, my
"gotopc.com", my "printers" menu goes blank.

After much digging, it looks like cryptographic services stops running. I
try to restart, but needs the dependency, RPC. I can not get RPC running!
It says automatic. I tried a WIN CD BOOT restore to get it running, but all
that does is set it to automnatic. But it won't run.

In winupdate.log, I do have errors for updates, namely 0x800706ba, which
turns out is RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE, duh!!

There is a windows update that is stopping my RPC...how can I restart it.

Oh, and since IE7 won't run, I can not go to updates!

Plase help, I'm tired of reinstalling Win XP over & over...

Thanks.

Re: Update errors
Was IE7 uninstalled prior to the Repair Installation ?
What is the Background Intelligent Transfer Service [BITS] set to for
Startup type in the Services console ?
