These codes all appear to be install errors which means that your problem
symptoms are all independent of WU (or the method of the update delivery.)
Therefore, you are more likely to get help from a newsgroup where you might
have gone if you had simply tried installing such updates manually.
Cross-posting to one for convenience.
BTW don't forget to search for the equivalent codes in hex too.
Other posters apparently have a context in which they are reported
instead of the decimal codes that you are showing.
Hmm... in fact even including that decimal code just causes too much
irrelevant stuff to be included in the results. Here's the search I finally used on
Google Groups:
sql (65B OR 0x065B OR 0x65B) group:microsoft.*
(There were no instances of the middle representation of the code found
in other discussions about it but that is probably the one that I would have
used first if I had to pick just one.)
The last time I tried to help out on this tack a Microsoft rep
apparently followed up with this suggestion:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...44d5c1bd166dfc
<quote poster="Peter Saddow, Microsoft">
Please copy/paste the contents of summary.txt file located in
%programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\hotfix
</quote>
but all that did unfortunately was show that (as expected) this summary code
was masking other errors.
In the same discussion this suggestion was made:
<quote poster="tbarkdull">
Download the update and install it manually. You WILL need the original
install CD
</quote>
