RE: Endless update loop on KB927779
I have the same problem. Do you have SQL 2005 installed?
It seems it has to do with the MDAC version been higher that the one's in
the fix and the fact that the installed does not check whether the fix has
been applies or not to the installation. Hence tries to install, succeced
since it doesn't apply but log a failed installation and loop. (or something
like that)
Here is the installation log:
0.344: SQL DLL: ProdVer: CheckFailed: The product version does not qualify
for this update. Installed product version is 2.81.1117.0 while the update
requires version(s) MDAC 2.8 (2.80.xxxx.x)
0.344: SQL DLL: Custom return code: 17010
0.344: SQL DLL: FileVer: Info: File on machine at higher version than
update: DBnetlib.dll: package = 2000.85.1064.0, machine = 2000.85.1117.0
