Hello there,

This has nothing to do with windows update and should be posted in the XP
hardware group.

Try reinstalling the sound card drivers from the mainboard drivers CD. If
not succesfull post your issue in
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...&lang=en&cr=US

Soundcard has NOTHING to do with Windows.
All soundcards come with drivers and software.
IF it is built in sound then drivers are included in the Motherboard install
CD.
IF a hardware(card)soundcard then the install cd for the card.
