error message in vista

Hi can somebody please help me here. Every time i start up my computer it
goes through the initial startup ok with the Windows logo showing & then I
get the following message
Fehler beim Setzen der Daten fur 'Windows Update'
my screen then goes black & I have to manually start explorer.
My computer then seems to work fine. I have searched for hours and cannot
find an answer to this problem anywhere. I am running Windows Vista Home
Premium
