Windows update doesn't work

I have 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium, and I've tried updating it with the
Windows Update. Each time I've gotten an error code 80070643. I found this
article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/903772), but the odd
thing is that I do not have Microsoft Office on my computer.

Windows Update also says that I should update Windows Update itself.
However, it doesn't seem to have any effects, and WindowsUpdate.log file has
several errors.

Any ideas?

I got some sort of an answer in this thread:

But it didn't work for me; the situation remained unchanged. I hope it works
for some others.

-- try disabling toolbars in Internet Explorer and see if it helps some..I
don't know if it will, but give it a try..
