I recently cleared a problem with PABear help but now when I attempt to
update I get this new error. I have tried the fixes I have read here but
cannot get it to work. Help appreciated.

Which version of Windows is installed ?
What is the installed antivirus/security software ?

Please post the last 50 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log
Start > Run > type in, or copy&paste, the below into the Open: line

Translation: Cannot connect to the Internet server

Have you look at any of these articles?
When accessing the Update site, you receive the 0x80072EE2 or 0x80072EFD error.

I did read the articles and followed the instructions. I have TrendMicro
anti-virus and recently shut it down and was able to update. I cannot get
the TMicro to let me update with it running. If I still need to send the
error log I will do so. Thanks for your help.

I've seen the same error occurring with NOD32 Version 2.7.39.
It also affected the Automatic Update service whereby it could be
Stopped but not Restarted. Subsequent reboots also failed to restart the
service.

Isn't it 'special' when AV's exhibit viral-like behavior ? NO !!!
It may be time for you to contact Trend so that they are aware of the
misbehaviour of their AV.

OR, perhaps the issue lies with something MS has altered ? That would
account for the increase in the posts dealing with a break down of
communication between the systems and the update servers.
