KB946627 fix for KB942615 induced Problem

Microsoft released today (Dec-21-2007) KB946627 that does the Regedit to fix
the problem caused by the KB942615 security update without you having to do
the Regedit directly.

i have removed the kb942615 update on machine as a work around to the ie6
not responding problem. (my post of 12-13-2007,
"942615 doesn't allow to print web pages")

do you know if i would re-install the kb942615 first, & then the kb946627?

You are correct. You gotta' do the KB942615 first as this has both the good
and the bad in it.. The KB946627 fixes the Registry without having to go
into regedit.

I'm curious, what problem does KB942615 cause? IE locks up or crash?
I got KB942615 installed. I asked about 10 users (at work) who are
supposedly affected by it. None of them has any lockup/crash problem.

I am wondering if I should install KB946627 to fix KB942615.

I'm so paranoid after experiencing the IE Crash problems with the Dec
11th update I am skeptical about applying the MS fix. Wondered if there
were any success stories out there using KB946627 today.

week & report back. machine at work location. replying from home. i also
never completed the december's updates on home xp home version, sp2 machine.
i usually do work first, & then home. work is xp pro, sp2.

i manually allowed the update to install. update was installed with macafee
running. my first problem was that i couldn't print from "print preview" in
ie 6. then a lock up. sometimes ie6 worked. would not print from
file>print....>, & sometimes it would print. i did not leave update
installed too long, as i needed machine for work. the removal allowed me to
perform work functions, so i have left machine alone. to the best of my
memory, that's my experience with ie6 problem.

Hotmail. The registry fix and/or the patch fixed this.

The MS fix works fine. It's just the Registry patch repackaged.
