Problem with mouse very sluggish / freezing after installing updates

After installing the latest set of MS updates I found that the mouse
became very sluggish and would sometimes freeze then just sluggish
again. I am using MS XP Pro with SP2. Does anyone have any idea which
of the latest updates could have caused this. I had to do a system
retore just to be able to write this message & get the system working
properly again

I would suggest to to try something simple first. Before you start picking XP/Vista apart!

I had this problem two times on a Vista SP2 laptop and I found that reboot helps. But even faster solution for slow vista mouse pointer is to put computer to sleep and back. Let me know if that worked for you too!

I have the same problem, can you try posting the solution here since
this may be more widespread?
