No internet after windows updates
I have the same problem as a lot of others on this forum. No internet at all
(IE, Outlook, etc) after installing the 8 or so windows updates earlier in
the week. I restored my system to the point prior to installing windows
updates and everything was back to normal.

I read on here that it may be due to the IE7 update so I reinstalled the
updates minus the IE update. Afterwards, IE worked fine but Outlook couldn't
access the internet. Obviously there is another update that is doing the
same thing to Outlook settings. I tried disabling Symantec corporate edition
antivirus, but this did not help. I do not have any other 3rd party firewall
on my system. I am able to access LAN drives and other computer on my local
network.

I have Vista premium, and office enterprise 2007.

I find it hard to believe MS would put forth this update knowing it doesn't
work with other 3rd party software. I'm reading all over the internet about
people diagnosing their systems and then not installing the patches due to
this same problem. I can't even imagine what some computer illiterate people
are going through right now.

I guess if they want the ultimate in security for their software, the
ultimate solution is to totally shut down internet access

Help?!?!

Re: No internet after windows updates
I had the same problem. I like you just did a system restore back a day
before the downloads and everything worked fine. I ended up just having to
block (KB942615) windows update. We count on Microsoft for valid updates and
this is what we get. They need to repair this fix right away. I have
Windows XP with AVG, spybot, and ad-aware. Also, I can not turn off my
Windows Firewall. I turn it off and it still is lit up green and saying
"on". I'm all confused. Let me know if you learn or hear anything new.

Re: No internet after windows updates
Ok, i think i might know why i have this problem, BUT, i don't know how to
fix so if anyone can help, i'd be forever grateful.

i checked in the security tab in wondows vista and it tells me that windows
firewall and norton internet security are both on. norton came with this
laptop when i bought it and i removed it a while back.... i can't find it on
the installed programs list, or anywhere for that matter. I guess when i
uninstalled the program it didn't fully uninstall. i did install symantec
antivirus corporate, but i can't find a "firewall" anywhere on this program,
and disabling has no bearing on fixing the problem.

does anyone know how to completely remove this?

Re: No internet after windows updates
I also had this problem....this worked for me:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...9?OpenDocument

They offer a program to fully remove norton from your computer. Good Luck.
