Sector errors on laptops with latest updates

Yesterday I had two end-users that experienced sector damage with the latest
updates.

I am wondering if anyone else is having any issues in this regard. One of
the laptops successfully got through the check disk and seems to be ok, but
the other is not. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced similar
problems. The laptops were acer 8120s. I will also be checking the acer
newsgroup, but I thought I would ask here to see if others were experiencing
any problems or if this may be isolated.
