Windows updates don't install after downloading

After downloading the updates it says they're are "" updates to install and
nomatter how many times i try i cannot install them, this is getting to be a
bother i tried many methods, could anyone help?

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from
Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a
Windows XP installation

If the above does not apply, then post the version of Windows and the
last 50 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log, located in the WINDOWS
directory [folder].
