Windows Update Error 8000FFFF after Restore

I recently restored my Laptop (1.73Ghz 1GB RAM Fujitsu Amilo) to factory
settimgs using the supplied recovery DVDs. Before installing any other
software I went to complete a windows update.

Every time I recieve the same error code: 8000FFFF.

I have read many of the solutions posted here but I do not believe they
apply since most discuss around the use of 4GB RAM. Furthermore, I am
confused as to how this can happen especially for a Restore DVD.....!?!?!
