Update error 800B0100

I have tried many time to update but error 800B0100 keeps it from updating.
Any suggestions

For Win XP -

1. Try:-
Click Start, select Run, now type in:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
Press Okay

and/or

2. Try:
Click Start, select Run, now type in:
CMD
(Note this opens the command prompt windows)

Now type in the following (noting to press Enter after each line)

net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc

I will always assume ithe OS is Windows XP unless otherwise stated

i have the same problem and looking for a fix i read about a possible
cause.if for some reason you have repaired your os what happens is the update
program corrupts and this is why you have this problem.hope this help to
understand why you have this error
