Did you read about the update?
On non-English versions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, some text in
the print dialog box unexpectedly appears in English after you install the
..NET Framework 3.0
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934238
Particularly:
"Note If you installed the .NET Framework 3.0 on a non-English version of
Windows Server 2003 or of Windows XP, you must install the appropriate
language pack for the .NET Framework 3.0 before you check for updates on the
Windows Update Web site."

My XP Home is set up for English. I am an English speaking, Red Neck
,Southern -
American, raised in Michigan 35 years. Never learned another language.
Just reinstalled Windows today, and updating it, when all of a sudden this
one update refused to cooperate.
I'm not sure what you're talking about, so if you know Redneck English that
might help.

Go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Validate, download, install.
Reboot.
Go back to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and scan for (custom) the
critical and optional updates offered. Don't get hardware drivers from that
site (however) - get hardware drivers from the hardware manufacturer (those
who made each piece of hardware on your machine.)

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:

Re: 6 attempts and 6 failures to update KB934238
I had the same problems with this update and could not figure where the non
English ever came into it. I removed the .Net Framework 3.0 using control
panel. I then downloaded and installed .Net Framework 3.5 (file dotnetfx35)
from the miscrsoft download site. For good measure I downloaded and installed
the XPS viewer file (XPESEP XP and Server 2003 32 bit). The KB 934238 failure
to install has not been as issue...sofar. I am assuming something got
corrupted there in one of the updates or in .NET Framework 3.0 making the
update not recognize something it needed to see to install. Whatever it was
it does not seem to be an issue. When I go to Windows updates now, I get the
message that I am up to date, there are no critical updates to download or
install. KB 934238 is a non issue right now.

AFAIK, .NET Framework 3.5 does not replace .NET Framework 3.0 which did not
replace .NET Framework 2.0 which did not replace .NET Framework 1.1... In
other words - it is entirely plausible that you would not need any .NET
Framework.

Re: 6 attempts and 6 failures to update KB934238
And so now what is your point? KB 934238 not installing is not an issue any
longer so far. What you say is probably true about not needing .NET
Framework of any kind or version, but it was there along with 1and 2. I did
not put it there and did not know when it arrived but it was there before I
could not install KN934238 and the reasons Microsoft gave, which were meager
at best and not helpful did not solve the problem.
