Tin, if you take a few minutes and look around you'll see that many of us
have had the same or very similar problem with this Update.

Some folks first applied the SP1 (Service Pack) for the appropiate NET
Framework and then tried the Update. I simply uninstalled Microsoft.NET
Framework 1.1 from Control Panel. I have learned that under Vista the
version of NET Framework is 3.x.

Others here have tried other solutions. Microsoft appears to be silent on
this issue. I too have wasted a few hours on this. I really don't mind
problems if I __know__ they are problems and are working on a solution.
Silence, contrary to popular belief, is not golden'- it's a f******
annoyance.

My main concern - what happens for Vista users when the SP1 for Vista is
released sometime in the near future.

My feeling from my limited knowledge on this, if a program I use really
needs NET Framework 1.1, it will advise me to download it. Until that time
comes, I will use the version 3.x that embedded in Vista. I don't know the
version of the included NET Framework in XP.

I don't understand it. They always talk about security and they can't solve
this problem which is the main way how deliver security to their users. I'm
fed up with this s***. And I forgot to write that I've just yesterday
installed XP.
